What I want to do here is point you all to a place where we can share experiences and engage in some creative information sharing around cataloguing, resource description, professionalism, and the future of librarianship. First I need to mention my co conspirator Celine Carty, thank her for her quick responses in the face of adversity, and thank Alan Danskin of the British Library for his support and encouragement. The aim here is to provoke discussion and debate about all of these things; what do you do to promote your knowledge and skills? What do you think about the application of RDA? For some of you, the advent of Shelf-ready is nigh – how do you feel about your changing skills? Do you feel de-skilled? How are you embracing the new skills requirements?
I want all cataloguers in whatever form that may be (information architects, knowledge managers, metadata administrators included) to consider their achievements and engage in this new space where we can shout about it and disseminate that message to our peers.
COME AND JOIN IN AT HIGH VISIBILTY CATALOGUING
