What language do I speak?

Is it possible that as a librarian rather than an administrator, that I speak a different language to fellow office workers? My lovely pal suggested I need a Babelfish*, and I seriously wonder if I do! I’m well aware that in all of our vocational niches we use localised vernacular, but I’m starting to feel that even within a small team, interpretation and translation of what we all say to eachother in work terms really does depend on the level of enthusiasm and interest in the subject.
As a team leader, it is my responsibility to get across to my colleagues and immediate team, aims and objectives as well as specific tasks. Sometimes I think it would be easier to use flash cards……
